These are great for gaming.I bought both versions. I'd love if they got around to making some smaller sized hexagons for some travel gaming, but these are more than enough for most any setting.I'd recommend buying a flexible clear plastic sheet in the size of the board you purchase if you want to write on this with erasable markers. For the most part they'll erase fine, but a humid day or a particularly aggressive child can find a way to stain most anything. That's not a mark against the product. Just something to consider with where you are keeping it.Another thing... never store one of these in a room where there is a lot of tobacco smoke. You'll end up with a very antique looking board if you do.I'm a DM addicted to mapmaking and this is absolutely perfect for what I need. It's vinyl, and two-sided. On one side, its square grids, on the opposite, its hexes. This is being used for Dungeons and Dragons, so the grinding accommodates minis really well. I use wet-erase markers. DO NOT USE DRY ERASE MARKERS ON THIS. It's included on the instructions for the mat to NOT use dry-erase markers, but I know not everyone reads instructions, so... yeah, WET ERASE ONLY.The package arrived in a long rectangular box and the mat itself was rolled up and sealed inside. When I opened it, it unrolled perfectly- no wrinkles, no folding indents. It smells a little, but its vinyl. It's gonna smell like vinyl. For use with this mat, I bought some Expo Vis-a-Vis Wet Erase markers in the 8-pack, so I have more colors to choose from. I can't wait for my players to see what I come up with!Overall, I have zero complaints about this mat. It's exactly what I needed and I plan to buy more in the future for those multiple-dungeon nights!I have read many of the reviews and to be honest I was concerned based on many of the; less than glowing, reviews. But, I must say that I am VERY satisfied with this mat. The shipping issues noted in previous reviews were not present. The mat was tightly rolled and protected with a core tube and shrink wrap. It was not bent, or flattened. The edges of the mat were crisp and in good condition. The Box itself was beat up, but the contents well protected. I have only used wet erase markers because I had heard that dry-erase do not work and leave "scaring" or faint traces. I do wipe them off immediately after game play is done. The printing on the vinyl is crisp and clear, no blemishes! I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely purchase from this seller and manufacturer again!Great gaming map. Not to happy that while using my expo dry erase markers it let permanent marks only after 1 hour.Any ideas to clean it would be great.I bought this for my weekly D&D group. Up until now, we were just using our imagination for the fighting and stuff. Now, I build complex grid dungeons and I have to say, my group has never been more scared. This mat has really helped me to create more intricate dungeons filled with traps, trolls, and worse. I absolutely recommend this product for gaming. One drawback I found is that if you use red or blue marker you need to make sure to wipe it off pretty quickly, otherwise it will stain, but that is really the only drawback. green and black work just fine. This was the best thing I could have bought on this site. The grid mat is so nice! The marker and eraser that came with it are alright but it leaves marks so you know where you marked out. My husband and I use this three times a week when we have our game days. This has been THE best grid mat over there. It fits perfectly on the kitchen table and it's really durable. You can wipe it down with anti-bacterial wipes, or baby wipes, or anything.A bit of advice, when you go to store it, roll it up. If you just fold it it'll get a bunch of creases that can knock over your miniatures and make your dice rolls invalid. Rolling it makes sure there are nothing to hamper the little pieces and dice.I rate this at an 11/10!Here I am, end of 2017 and I ordered my first map mat from Wiz Dice. I was very apprehensive about buying it due to some of the previous ratings, but it seems those negative ratings caused them to really step up their game! The mat is perfectly printed and is beautiful to look at. It came rolled up on a cardboard tube and suffered no damage at all. Next time I will be ordering the larger-sized mat to game on! Sure, the edges were not perfectly square, but that is easily fixed while the printing being smudged or missing would have been a larger issue.Again, the printing on both sides of my mat were perfectly done without bare spots, without smudges or splatters.Let me start off by saying, this board is great in what it what it's use is. A WET erase board that you can use for figurines or D&D. Literally the perfect board for it. FYI.BUT the one I just ordered came in messed up. Some of the lines were scratched and missing. Plus the hexagon side had a huge used permanent line on it. I'm submitting pictures for those that are curious. Normally I wouldn't care if it was a little damaged. But this is a gift to a friend and that means it needs to be NEW as I ordered. Not USED.The mat is a thick vinyl. DO NOT USE DRY ERASE! Use overhead projector markers, you can find them cheap. The dry erase will mark up your mat. This mat is wonderful. It is soft and supple. Wanted a mat that was not textured for dungeon play as it was for Starfinder and this one is perfect. Using crayola wide tip washable makers works best for me.Haven't been able to find any marker that won't leave behind a mark. Even the recommended wet erase markers, after wetting and attempting to erase mere seconds after making a mark, does not come out.It is a good mat but the colour wont lift I have used water vinegar, and alcohol and it still wont come out. Would he happy if I can get a replacement or my money backThis item is NOT as advertised!!!! Product description says it is wet erase. It’s not once you draw on it you ruin it.
